Day #8 of the power ranking push. Today's blog is brought to you by sunshine because it looks like it's really nice out. Found this Tik Tok and it hit me like a ton of bricks. This is a classic example of not knowing what you have until it's gone. Today will be a power ranking in honor of the events we aren't seeing or have been at least postponed for the moment. The intros are as follows, March Madness, NBA playoffs, MLB Opening day, 2020 Olympics, The Masters. As always, let's ride.
5. 2020 Olympics- I like the olympics but I like it a lot more when America is on the cusp of winning a gold medal or something like that. That one time when TJ Oshie went nuts during a shoot out during an olympic hockey game, I was a BIG olympics guy that day. Or when Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals, that was pretty cool. Maybe I'm a hater, maybe I'm a fake fan. But the olympics doesn't always get it going for me.
4. MLB Opening Day- Probably would have scored higher if it was the World Series music. That gets my juices going every time, because I know Joe Buck is waiting on the flips side of the intro music. For MLB opening day there's no promise of Joe Buck being on the call and I'm probably watching the Washington Nationals play the Miami Marlins at 2 PM on a cloudy 40 degree Thursday. Song still slaps tho.
3. The Masters- This isn't something that I feel good about doing but it's the right thing to do. I love the Masters but I also love sporting events that get me going and keep me doing. If championship Sunday of the Masters is close then it can get intense but for the most part it's a super laidback event. Don't get me wrong live to hear Jim Nantz say "hello friends" but the Masters theme is how I want to lowered into my eventual grave. The ultimate hello friends to the afterlife.
2. NBA Playoffs- NBA basketball is a guilty pleasure of mine. I use to put so much energy into hating it because for some reason I like college basketball games where the combined score is 105, but I digress. The NBA playoffs and the Finals make for some good basketball and better content. Everyone hates each other, Russell Westbrook forgets that he's really good and the overall drama of Lebron vs everybody is awesome. Then to hear Mark Jackson chirping Jeff Van Gundy only to be interrupted by Mike Breen yelling BANGGGG! I love it man.
1. March Madness- If you hear this song, you already know what the fuck is going on. We're probably 3 games deep on Friday of the opening weekend, 6 beers already down the gullet and a slice of pizza to match each beer. Your bets are booked with your bookie and life is good. The buzzer beaters, upsets and cinderella runs of March Madness all exist between the first playing of March Madness intro and the last playing. March Madness is a wild 3 weeks of sports and it only gets better with their intro music.
