Day #21 of the power ranking push. Today's blog is brought to you by essential work, multiple cups of coffee and the upcoming weekend. In my neck of the woods, the weather is looking phenomenal and almost makes me forget that we're in the middle of a pandemic. Regardless of the pandemic, I still love to ctrl + alt + delete adult beverages on the weekends and I plan on doing so this weekend.
2019 will always be known as the great hard seltzer boom, the year where everyone and their brother produced their own hard seltzer for the Becky's and Chads of the world. I was a hater for a while and then I began a diet and drink seltzers on the regular (shout out Michelob Ultras too). I mentioned the great seltzer boom of 2019, and remarkably Bud Light waited until 2020 to release their own seltzer. I like Bud Light's seltzer because they're a little cheaper than competitors and I feel like a man drinking them. Which is why I will rank the flavors of their debut pack. Flavors included are, Black Cherry, Lime, Mango, and Strawberry. Let's ride.
4. Mango – The mango flavor is very well done compared to the other mango flavored seltzers in the industry. Personally, I am not a huge mango fan and that's why they have fallen in my rankings. But in all fairness, last night I had zero problems drinking a mango seltzer in the shower. I would entertain the thought of bumping this guy a little higher, but for now he stays at 4.
3. Strawberry – Bud Light opted to add strawberry to their variety pack rather than copying White Claw verbatim by including raspberry. I give creativity points to strawberry for being something that not many have done in the seltzer game but there's still room for improvement. As it stands, they're 1 bad loss away from falling to last place in my rankings.
2. Black Cherry – All this time, I thought that black cherry was just a made up flavor. As it turns out, they're real and this flavor is the real deal. I don't think that I've ever had a black cherry seltzer that was bad but we are talking about Bud Light, so anything is possible. But because black cherry is a pretty run of the mill flavor, I couldn't put them any higher than #2.
1. Lemon Lime – The lemon lime Bud Light seltzer is comparable to sprite at McDonald's. Yes it's that good. While I do enjoy all of the flavors in this pack, lemon lime is by far the best. Neither the lemon nor the lime is too powerful and the green on the can looks sharp too. I will take the bud Light lemon lime seltzer over the White Claw lime seltzer any day of the week. Credit to Bud Light for not messing this up.
