Power Ranking Active Pinstripe Uniforms In The MLB

Writer's picture: Matt Fire Matt Fire

Day #9 of the power ranking push, today’s blog is brought to you by the afternoon diet pepsi that I’m drinking. Since baseball should be played right now, we’re going to rank the teams that currently have a pinstripe uniform in the active rotation, because for some reason the game of baseball loves pinstripe unis more than their unwritten rules.

Teams with a pinstripe uniform in their rotation include the following: Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and the San Diego Padres. Let's ride.

8. Chicago White Sox- I get that the White Sox are a super old team, but good god are these uniforms bland. Perhaps my AL Central bias is creeping in here but there is not a single element of this uniform that I enjoy. Spin zone: these are a color-blind person’s dream uniform.

7. Colorado Rockies- The Rockies have only been around since 1993 so the pinstripes are a big case of stolen valor, plus the purple pinstripes make this such a candy ass uniform. To their credit, they have a much better look than the White Sox.

6. Philadelphia Phillies- No brotherly love from me here. Are there worse uniforms out there? Yes, but there’s also better ones too. I like the red pinstripes more than purple ones but up close the red is too much. Also hurts that the Philly Phanatic runs around in the stripes.

5. New York Mets- They won’t ever admit it but the Mets wearing pinstripes screams “we want to be like the Yankees”. Blue and orange always plays well together on a uniform and the Mets have always worn them at home in some capacity. Just hard to be higher than 5 when you play in the same city as the Yankees.

4. Chicago Cubs-The Cubs and pinstripes have become an iconic paring mainly because the Cubs had to endure years and years of public disappointment. Something about pinstripes inside of Wrigley just makes everything feel right. Their pinstripes look super clean and are a top 5 look compared to the White Sox.

3. New York Yankees-Fair to say that I’m not writing this blog if the Yankees don’t win 27 championships in pinstripes. Their success in the pinstripes is why everyone in baseball wears them. But besides the winning a bunch in them, it’s kind of a bland look. I get that if it’s not broke, there’s no need to fix it but I also don’t have to lie and say that it’s the best in baseball right now.

2. Milwaukee Brewers- Milwaukee rebranded their logo and uniforms this off-season and now look super good. Into the mix is a pinstripe alternate jersey and it looks super clean.Derek Jeter gave the Brewers Christian Yelich for basically nothing and now Yelich can win an MVP looking sexy as hell.

1. San Diego Padres- Another team that rebranded this offseason except the Padres returned to their old brown and yellow scheme. Absolutely in love with the 2 pinstripe options that they have too. I don’t care that the Padres probably won’t ever make the playoffs becauseI’ll get to see them look good for 162 straight games. Straight fire for the Friars.
