Vejas Grazulis is a walking bucket, that is a fact. Vejas won three different accolades this week, that is another fact. Outside of maybe Xavier Tillman SR. or Luka Garza, there's not another center in college basketball that I would want on my team. Facts only. Grazulis is six feet, eleven inches of pure Lithuanian-American muscle who comes from Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
To understand Vejas, you must first understand the basketball family that he comes from. His dad played D3 basketball at Kalamazoo College. His older sister spent her college career at Grand Valley State University and Davenport University. His older brother spent four seasons at Michigan Tech and his little brother just played his freshman season at GVSU. Another fact for you, the Grazulis family is basically a D2 version of the Zeller family.
Staying on theme with facts, here are a few more about Vejas, this season he averaged 14.2 points per game and grabbed 12.3 rebounds per game. In addition to that, Gazulis blocked over 120 shots this season while shooting 36.4% from behind the arc. I checked my fact sheet and that all shows up at super freaking good. This week, Vejas won the MCCAA Western freshmen, defensive and overall player of the year. Which is not bad considering last year at this time Vejas was a manager at Econo Foods in Marquette. (Vejas was an elite manager while on staff)
This season, Vejas announced that after this season he will be continuing his playing career at Ferris State University. Thus meaning that he will get to play his younger for the next three seasons, only now as a conference rival. A few final facts as I go, and those facts are as follows. This goofy Lithuanian is a very good friend of mine and deserves all the success and accolades. Vejas has put in the work, done things the right way and the best is still yet to come for him. Say what you want but those are all facts. I dare anyone to meet him at the rim. Go off king.
